About The Workshop
There is no denying that the centuries old technique of macrame is new again. Seems like everyone is trying it. Tying knots is not that hard. It is how the knots are sequenced that is the challenge. How do you make macrame that is unique and visually intriguing? How does a fabric of technically crafted knots become interesting?
This macrame workshop is focused on design, in addition to the basic knots and materials. We will review the elements of design that apply to all art making. Learn how to incorporate line, postive/negative space, foreground/background and texture to create a balanced macrame composition. Learn to use your craft to create art.
Choose to work on a wall hanging or a glass vessel. Designs are uniquely your own and build as knotting progesses. This is your time to design with the support, guidance and camaraderie of fellow knotters. Appropriate for all skill levels, enthusiastic beginners to confident masters.
Glass vases, driftwood, and 2mm and 3mm white cotton string included. If you have a special project in mind that requires thicker cord, a large amount of cord, or a specific vase or frame, feel free to bring it along.
Workshop Fee: $250.
Lunch and snacks are provided.
